9 months!

Where does the time go? It's still very surreal to me that I even have a child, let alone a 9 month old! It seems like just overnight our little baby has turned into such a big girl! So far this is my favorite age and I know it's only getting better. Gosh I just love this girl.

Stats: We haven't weighed her lately but she's got to be close to 25 pounds. She is definitely harder to lug around! She's still growing length-wise also. I am predicting a tall girl!

Teeth: We're at 6 now! We've added a top and bottom in the last month, and the drooling continues! They haven't come completely down yet but they are definitely through and she definitely uses them! Ouch!

Feeding: Reese has become more and more interested in solids and less interested in bottles. She LOVES tasting whatever we are eating and trying new things. Some new favorites are cheese and watermelon.

Sleeping: For some reason Reese now thinks its okay to wake up at 5am. Ugh. I swear the sleep deprivation feels like it did when she was a newborn. I know that's ridiculous because we get WAY more sleep now, but life is also WAY busier. She sleeps through the night about 40% of the time which is amazing, but still wakes up way too early. This morning when I woke up at 4:50 Reese was awake, sitting silently in her crib just playing. Who knows how long she'd been awake but the quiet only lasted about 10 more minutes. Naps have been hit and miss lately as well. Usually a good nap in the morning is followed by a short nap in the afternoon or vice versa. Hopefully this is just a little blip in the radar though. Can't wait for those 12 hr nights!

Talking: Still no real words but I swear she tries to say some things! I hear a "zee-zee" sound now when our dog Izzy is around, that's something right? No matter the time or place she is still very vocal! Loves to "tell stories" and express her like or dislike of things with sound. Most the time it's very cute noises, other times it's like an eardrum is breaking..

Activity: Probably the biggest area of change (again)! Reese is ALWAYS moving! She is a busy lady. In the last two weeks she has started pulling herself up on anything and loves to stand! She is even letting go with one hand and testing her balance, which so far has been incredibly good! She still has not learned a real hands and knees crawl yet but she gets around with the army crawl and moves fast! She absolutely LOVES to read, its her favorite thing to do by far. She will sit through a whole library of books, but her absolute favorite is Pat the Bunny. She knows all the commands in the book, "pat the bunny", "smell the flowers", "look in the mirror", "wave", etc. It's really hilarious to watch. She loves outside time, walks, the park, or just sitting on a blanket in the backyard. It seems like she learns something new everyday and its so much fun to watch!

Mother's Day Adventure Part Two!

On Day two of our Mother's Day weekend we took a short drive from our hotel in Sonora to Jamestown. A small little historic city with a steam locomotive! My nephews are big train fanatics and had a blast riding the train through gold country.

Mother's Day in Yosemite!

It's become a Mother's Day tradition to go to Yosemite. A few years back it started as a marathon one day trip to and from the valley, trying to pack in all the sights in a day. This year we decided to make it a weekend trip so that kids and babies wouldn't have to spend so much time cooped up in the car. We drove into the valley early Saturday and spent the day stopping at all the sights! Waterfalls, meadows, rivers, lakes, mountains, wildlife... it was quite the adventure! Reese did great and adapted well to naps and meals in the car, sleeping in a hotel, and hiking around. Overall it was a great trip, Im already looking forward to next year when Reese will be toddling around!
