She's crafty...

In preparation for the upcoming shower of the century I'm throwing for Mary, I have been spending many hours making these... My new favorite craft!

They look fabulous! But I can't share pics just yet, don't want to ruin the surprise!!

Thanks Martha for sharing these party pom poms!

My Handsome Husband Wears Many Hats...

A Day in the Life of Julie

What's that? You want to hear all about my day??

OK!

I must have been delirious yesterday when I volunteered to do an extra shift today. Either that or I was thinking about the price of the Crate and Barrel patio set we just bought that will be delivered tomorrow... Follow all of that?

When I arrived at work this morning I found that I was assigned as a "sitter", on the second floor. Basically patients in the hospital need a "sitter" when (not if) they become crazy (ie biting through IV tubing, climbing over side rails to get out of bed, peeing on staff members, etc etc.) Therefore I was not looking forward to the day. BUT, I was pleasantly surprised to find my sweet patient who had been confused during the night was now completely with it! AND she needed to go have an MRI done in Roseville! Which means I would be travelling along with her when the paramedics came to pick us up! In an AMBULANCE! Yipeee! I was uber thrilled! Sign me up! I love ambulances! AND paramedics. Obviously the older, balding, overweight, married ones! Obviously.

The paramedics were late picking us up and we got lost going to Roseville! Ha. You'd think that would have given me a clue about how the day would unfold. Unfortunately I was still being naive and enjoying the new experience. That is until the MRI people told us it would be at least an hour until my sweet little lady got her MRI, which led to our sweet friends the paramedics just abandoning us in this random office. Of course as soon as the paramedics walk out the door the medication I gave to my patient during our ride began to take affect. Thus causing my sweet alert and oriented lady to become lethargic, confused, and crazy. I was sitting in a waiting room next to normal everyday people while my lady is about to pass out asking about flying sandwiches one minute and running through the waiting room in a hospital gown with her booty hanging out the next. After an hour of this it was finally time for the MRI. Just in time for the sedatives to leave her system and her to refuse to have the MRI!

No. Nope. Nada. Oh no she didn't.

I then had to strip everything metal off my person (even the bobby pins holding my cute hairdo in place) to enter the MRI room to talk my confused crazy lady into getting the freaking MRI done. After she finally agreed and the tech started the scan my lady pressed the "emergency save me" button literally every 3 minutes during the 30 minute scan. Each time we'd have to go into the room, pull her out, talk her into it, push her back in, close the door, start the scan, then BEEP! "Emergency save me" button would alarm! ARG!

Finally the scan was done and the next set of paramedics came to pick us up. As we pulled back into the hospital parking lot my patient asked me if I drove a car. I told her yes I did drive a car. She said, "Good then you can just take me home now." UGH! Thankfully as soon as we got my sweet psycho lady back up to her room the charge nurse came and found me and said I could go home!

That was my day. At least I was getting time and a half.

May Showers....

It is hot and sunny, but don't get me wrong, it's shower season!

My deadline is looming for Mary's Bridal Extravaganza 2009. As the MOH, I am super excited about hosting the shower, especially at my new house, but with the excitement comes STRESS! I want everything to be PERFECT, including my new house! Yesterday I was out shopping and passed a Party City so I decided to stop in and see if there was anything I could get for the shower. Let's just say it was quite entertaining!

Don't worry Mary, I won't be getting these decorations.... (Sorry again about the iphone pics).

But I was tempted to get these car decorations for your Bachelorette Party!

Because I found nothing at Party City, I kicked it up a notch and headed to Celebrations! today. I can't reveal too much, but I ordered a few things to help make it a PERFECT party! Pray for me as the countdown begins... 2 weeks.... 14 days.... 336 hours... AHHHH!!

Playing Catch Up

Today I finally got a day off! Well, I actually do get 4 of them every week. I know I shouldn't be complaining but seriously I am exhausted. I am excited for a weekend off from swine flu testing, abdominal wound infections, brain tumors, pneumonia, pressure ulcers, isolation gowns, antibiotics, diarrhea, PICC lines, adult diapers, Afib, etc etc etc. Seriously, the list could go on forever. Work and life have left me longing for a day just like today. Couch, computer, season finales on tivo! Perfect.

While I relax in my PJ's watching Izzie have brain surgery and George join the army I'll share some of my week!

On Mother's Day over at Gram's house we were greeted by a mom and her babies out for a stroll.

SO CUTE!

.....

On Tuesday I got off a few hours early and got to help out at the SJUSD Junior High Track Finals at American River College. Why was I there you ask? I'll tell you... Last year Tyler and I started helping with a club at our church called WOW. Here's the website to tell you more about it! http://www.sunrisecommunitychurch.org/sunriseMinistry.asp?ministryId=24

Some of our kids from WOW as well as others from the school district were competing in The All-Star Olympics, adapted events for our kids the compete in! Tyler and I had so much fun! Tyler got to hang out with Jackson for most of the afternoon, and even pushed Jackson in the 100 yd dash! Here are some pics!

Oh, did I forget to mention our new table came??

BUSY!

So much to blog about, so little time!

This morning I got to watch Devin (my 6 year old nephew) for a few hours before kindergarten. When he woke up he told me all about the scary dream he had during the night, which left him sleeping out on the couch, freezing with no covers. Sad. Thankfully he thought it was pretty funny! To score some Auntie points I made him his favorite breakfast, raspberry waffles! We did a few puzzles, read a few books, played a marathon memory game which included made up BONUS points, played with some Transformers, typical kindergarten boy stuff. Here's the little guy showing off his HULK toothbrush and Optimus Prime, his favorite Transformer.

Sorry about the low quality iphone pics! Now that I'm a serious blogger I'll have to carry my camera around!

Wolverine!

Tonight Tyler and I are going to see the new X-Men movie Wolverine!

As if seeing Hugh Jackman's hot bod weren't enough to convince me to go it's also starring one of my new celeb crushes, Taylor Kitsch. I love him as the rebel heart throb on Friday Night Lights.

Oh, Hello Tim Riggins.

I'm sooo excited!

Cinco de Mayo!

Today started out tragically.

My dog ate a dove. This is said dove laying in its final resting place.
My apologies for not warning you of the graphic images....
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Later in the day when Tyler got home from work we decided to take advantage of the sun and take the dogs for a stroll. We walked about 2 miles to the Parkway trails and had some quality "family time"! The dogs enjoyed all the new smells and the ducks in the pond. Molly REALLY wanted to get her paws on the ducks. She's a feisty one.

And to celebrate the holiday I made 7 layer dip and fajitas for dinner!

Luckily the day ended better than it began!

Our Weekend

Tyler and I finally had a weekend off together, the first since we moved into our new house in early March! To celebrate I dragged the poor guy all around town shopping for furniture and projects to make our house into the home we've dreamed about! Our first stop was a consignment center here in Folsom that was recommended to us. To put it nicely, we didn't find anything there we were in love with. Next stop was RC Willey out in Rocklin where we purchased this dining room set.

Ours will be minus the bench and plus more side chairs. It can seat up to 8 which is plenty for us (for now). It gets delivered this Saturday!

Next we stopped by Crate and Barrel to oooh and ahhh at all the stuff we'd love to have if we win the lottery. We did decide that we'll get this outdoor patio set, minus the umbrella, sometime this summer.

Next stop was IKEA! I hadn't been to IKEA since shopping for my wedding about 2 years ago, so I was super excited. We got some pictures, frames, etc. and these curtains which we'll hang in front of our sliding glass doors.

They are a beige color with a grey pattern. Should match our color palette well.

Next included stops at Lowe's AND Home Depot. UGH. Honestly, my least favorite places. Guess I shouldn't complain too much as BOTH these stops were to fix things in MY closet. Ahem. I now have beautiful blinds in both windows in my closet, YES, I have TWO windows in my closet!! Definitely one of my fave rooms in the new house!

Anyway, THANKS T for shuttling us around town and for being my handyman at home! It was a BUSY weekend.

Pics to come as soon as all the projects get done!

...The Beginning...

Yes! I have joined the blog world.

I have been contemplating this decision for a while now and finally decided to pull the trigger. In the past I have always decided against this in fear that my blog wouldn't live up to the ones I enjoy reading daily. But today I decided, Oh Well. Who Cares? I'm not looking to win an award for Blog of the Year, but I think this will be a fun way to update family and friends on my daily life. And possibly share a little more than my facebook status allows...

So here goes nothing!

ENJOY!
